About South African Music Foundation (SAMUFO)
Who We Are
The South African Music Foundation (SAMUFO) is a non-profit, Public Benefit Organization committed to providing free and accessible music and creative arts education.
Founded in 2019 and officially registered in 2023, SAMUFO uses music, arts, and digital skills development as tools for education, empowerment, and social transformation.
Our mission is to create opportunities for persons from all backgrounds to discover their talents, develop confidence, and build brighter futures through quality education and mentorship.
What We Do
We use music as a powerful tool to change lives. Our classes are designed to be fun, engaging, and deeply inspiring. But we also aim high, we prepare our students to take exams and earn internationally recognized music qualifications. This gives them a real sense of achievement and a qualification that opens doors for their future.
Creating safe spaces for young people
Many of our learners come from vulnerable communities and difficult social circumstances. At SAMUFO, we strive to provide more than education - we provide encouragement, support, mentorship, and a safe environment where young people can grow and thrive.
Through partnerships with educators, social workers, and mental health professionals, we support the emotional and personal development of our learners alongside their artistic education.
Why It Matters
Many of our students come from incredibly tough backgrounds, facing poverty, trauma, or unstable home lives. For them, SAMUFO is more than a music school - it is a safe haven. Music helps them heal, builds their confidence, and teaches them focus and discipline. By supporting us, you aren't just funding lessons; you are giving a vulnerable child a safe space to grow, heal, and find their voice.
How Your Support Helps
Your donation goes directly into the classrooms and communities where it is needed most. Funding helps us provide quality musical instruments, learning materials, and dedicated mentorship for our students. By covering examination fees, you ensure that financial barriers never stand in the way of a child earning their global certification. Every contribution directly sustains a structured environment where young people can focus on their growth, master a new skill, and envision a brighter future.
Partner With Us
We invite you to join us in creating a source of hope and opportunity across South Africa. Whether through a one - time donation, corporate sponsorship, or ongoing funding, your partnership allows us to scale our reach and bring this life - changing curriculum to more children. Together, we can provide the tools, the inspiration, and the safe spaces that allow vulnerable persons to rise above their circumstances and thrive.
